Wichita/Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers Coordinator receives national recognition during Crime Stoppers USA’s 50th Anniversary Conference in Washington, D.C.
Wichita Police Officer Kris Gupilan has been named the 2026 National Crime Stoppers Coordinator of the Year, earning one of Crime Stoppers USA’s highest individual honors and bringing national recognition to Wichita, Sedgwick County and Kansas law enforcement.
Officer Gupilan received the award during Crime Stoppers USA’s 50th Anniversary National Conference in Washington, D.C., where Crime Stoppers representatives from across the country gathered for training, workshops, networking and opportunities to share successful strategies from their communities.
The Wichita Metro Crime Commission congratulates Officer Kris Gupilan on being named the 2026 National Crime Stoppers Coordinator of the Year and thanks him for his continued dedication to Crime Stoppers, law enforcement and the Wichita and Sedgwick County community.
National Recognition for Work Behind the Scenes
Being named National Crime Stoppers Coordinator of the Year represents much more than the work of a single year.
It recognizes the countless hours spent behind the scenes reviewing anonymous tips, following up with investigators, developing content, speaking with students and community groups, collaborating with media partners and continually looking for ways to strengthen Wichita/Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers.
It also recognizes Gupilan’s ability to carry two demanding public safety responsibilities while remaining focused on the same purpose in both: serving and informing the community.
Whether he is communicating with Wichita residents as a Wichita Police Department Public Information Officer or working behind the scenes as the Wichita/Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers coordinator, Gupilan continues to bring his time, energy and dedication to both roles.
During Crime Stoppers USA’s historic 50th anniversary celebration, that commitment earned one of the organization’s highest national honors.
